Everybody loves a wedding event. The lavish, over-the-top events bring loved ones together from all corners of the world and promise an opportunity for them to throw caution to the wind and do what they ought to have been doing in the first place — celebrating life with their family and friends. In turn, these celebrations often result in a mass amount of cards being sent out each year: RSVP's, save the date cards, cheap wedding invitations and a lot more. One question that most wedding invitations aspirant business people ask is how many wedding invitations are sent out each year? The answer to this question varies from one country to the other, and most importantly from season to season.
So how many wedding invitations are sent out each year in the US? Let's find out!
If you're wondering, how many wedding invitations are sent out each year in the United States, the answer is 250 million. That's a whole lot of invitations — and a whole lot of money spent on them, too. According to the Association of Bridal Consultants, there are more than 2.4 million weddings in a year in the US. Assuming that each of these weddings sends out 110 wedding invitations that would automatically translate to 250 million invites sent out each year in the US.
In order to get to that number, I looked at wedding invitations as a standalone product; after all, these things are mailed between friends and family members who already know one another or to new couples who want to make their wedding day something they plan to remember forever.
The most popular time of the year for couples to get marries can vary from one location to the other and from one year to the other. However, according to this 2021 Real weddings study, more than 80% of the weddings take place from May to October. June and August takes 13% of all the wedding events while October tops with 22% of all the weddings in a year.
There are many inspiring factors of choosing these months. Some of these factors includes warm weather, the reliability of an outdoor event or fall foliage. However, the cost for the save the date design cards will definitely rise.
If you're considering how much it costs to send a wedding invitation, rest assured — it's a pretty penny. The average cost per wedding invite is $4.20. And that's for the average wedding invitation — the cost to send out a more expensive invitation will likely be in the $6-$8 range, and for more elaborate invitations, it can get upwards of $12.
For most couples, the cost to send a wedding invitation isn't an issue. You'll find that many couples save up for a whole year, or even more, in order to be able to afford their dream wedding — and sending out a few hundred invitations would be completely manageable.
